As a reminder, the Geneva Act, which entered into force on 26 February 2020, allows the international registration of appellations of origin and geographical indications through a single application with WIPO and the payment of one set of fees to obtain protection in all member countries of the Lisbon System, which now comprises 29 Contracting Parties, including the European Union.

This ratification will allow Serbia to strengthen and simplify the protection of both its appellations of origin and geographical indications in all Member States, in particular those in the non-agricultural product category such as such as ZLAKUSA (pottery), but also those in the food product categories such as the FRUŠKOGORSKI LIPOV MED (lime tree honey) or LESKOVAČKI DOMAĆI AJVAR (processed paprika), or BERMET (aromatized wine).
