Reform of European design law: implementation schedule

The acts of the "design package ", Regulation No 2024/2822 of 23 October 2024 amending the Regulation on Community designs and Directive No 2024/2823 of the same day on the legal protection of designs (recast), were published on 18 November 2024 in the Official Journal of the European Union.

They will enter into force 20 days after their publication, but will only apply at a later date:

• On 1 May 2025 for most of the provisions of the new Regulation, the other ones requiring implementing provisions;

• After transposition into national law within 36 months for the Directive.
