Montenegro, 39th Contracting State to the European Patent Convention

On 1st October 2022, Montenegro  became the 39th state to join the European Patent Convention (EPC).

Since 2009, Montenegro has been part of the States enabling the extension of the effects of the European patent.

To enjoy such extension, it was necessary to pay a specific fee when filing the European patent application.

As of 1st October 2022, Montenegro, as a Contracting State, will be automatically designated by any filing of a European patent application.
