Non-fungible tokens or NFTs are digital assets that prove the authenticity of virtual objects.
After their explosion in the art market, their use spread to other fields, such as fashion, music, cinema or sports.
Hence, several renown trademarks, Nike and Ferrari, to name a few, have seized the phenomenon.
Intangible assets for use in this new virtual environment will need specific protection. As an example, here is an extract of the trademark application recently filed by Nike: "virtual footwear, clothing […] and accessories accessible online and not downloadable, intended for use in online virtual environments".
