France Joins Geneva Act
[04/02/2021] On 21 January 2021, France joined the Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement on Appellations of Origin and Geographical Indications ("Geneva Act").
As a reminder, the Geneva Act, which entered into force on 26 February 2020, allows the international registration of appellations of origin and geographical indications through a single application with WIPO and the payment of one set of fees.
This ratification will allow France to protect both its appellations of origin and geographical indications internationally, in particular those in the non-agricultural product category such as Porcelaine de Limoges (Limoges porcelain) or Tapisserie d’Aubusson (Aubusson tapestry).
