Change of Protected Designation of Origin: “Blaye” to “Blavia” awaits european approval
[13/05/2024]
Producers of Blaye wines are awaiting approval for this change of name to avoid confusion with the autonomous PDO "Côte de Bordeaux Blaye".
The modification of the specifications of this PDO should also allow Malbec to become the main grape variety, with no restrictions on the use of secondary varieties (Petit Verdot and Carménère).
The « Organisme de Défense et de Gestion » hopes to obtain European validation before the 2024 harvest.
