The European Commission has launched two public consultations on protection of Industrial Designs and Geographical indications
[30/04/2021] The European Commission has launched on April 29, 2021 two public consultations.
The first one refers to Industrial Design Protection, and is intended to enable the Commission to propose a substantial reform in Europe by spring 2022, as was recently done in respect of Trademarks.
The second public consultation refers to the protection of Geographical Indications for non-agricultural products (i.e. handicrafts and industrial goods), and may lead to implementing a EU-wide protection regime. GI’s for non agricultural products are mostly protected at a national scale (as in France) for the time being.
